William Merritt

William Merritt was one of the seven Merritt brothers of Duluth, Minnesota. They began mining explorations in the mid 1800s. In 1891 the Merritt brothers discovered iron ore in Minnesota's iron range. They completed the Duluth, Missabe and Northern Railroad in 1892.
