Natalia Janotha (1856-1932)
Natalia Janotha was a Polish pianist and composer. Born in Warsaw, she studied with Brahms and Clara Schumann. Janotha debuted at age twelve in Warsaw, after which she performed all across Europe. Regarded as one of the finest pianists of her day, Janotha was renowned for her performances of Chopin. She composed more than four hundred pieces for piano. After living in London for many years, Janotha was deported in 1916 for being an enemy alien and moved to The Hague.
