Robert B. Mitchell (1823-1882)
Robert Byington Mitchell was a brigadier general of volunteers in the Union Army. He raised a regiment of cavalry in Kansas and was commissioned brigadier general. In the summer of 1863 he was given command of all the cavalry in the army and fought at Chickamauga. In November 1863 he went on leave because of ill health.
