Charles W. Sandford (1796-1878)
Charles W. Sandford was a major-general in the New York State National Guard in service of the United States. He was also a lawyer. In addition to fighting in the Civil War, Sandford helped to put down the draft riots in New York City in 1863. This carte de visite is an engraved portrait of Sandford.
