Henry Lewis (1819-1904)

Henry Lewis was a painter. He began as an English cabinetmaker, and then came to St. Louis in 1836 and gained a reputation as a landscape artist. In 1848 he began painting a 1,000-foot panorama of the Mississippi River. He toured the major cities of the U.S., Canada, and Europe, with the panorama.
