William Horace Lingard (1839-1927)

William Horace Lingard was a British-born actor and vocalist. After enjoying success as a comic vocalist in music halls, he came to the U.S. and made his debut in 1868 at the Theatre Comique, in New York, as a mimic. He also wrote "Captain Jinks of the Horse Marines," an extremely popular song, in 1868, for his British Lingard Comedy Company.
