Minthorne D. Tompkins
Minthorne D. Tompkins was the son of Daniel D. Tompkins, governor of New York state and vice president under James Monroe. Minthorne was a member of the New York state senate from 1840 to 1841. In 1870 Tompkins was awarded the New York Fire Department's first James Gordon Bennett Medal for valor, for his ladder-top rescue of a woman from a burning building.
