Mark Twain (1835-1910)

Mark Twain was the pseudonym of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, the great U.S. writer and humorist. Twain was working as a newspaperman in the West when he wrote his first outstanding piece, "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" (1865). In 1884 he published his masterpiece, "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," which is considered the first modern U.S. novel. In this carte de visite Twain is working in bed.
