Helen Western (1843-1868)
Helen Western was an actress, the daughter of actress Jane English, and debuted at age five as Eva in "Uncle Tom's Cabin." Young Western and her sister Lucille, under the management of their stepfather, toured as the Star Sisters. They debuted in their signature play, "Three Fast Men," at New York's Bowery Theatre in 1858, and remained there until 1861. The actress spent three years touring Great Britain, then opened as "The French Spy" in 1864 at New York's Broadway Theatre. Western was a friend of actor John Wilkes Booth, who carried a photograph of her at the time of his death.
