Benjamin F. Whittemore (1824-1894)

Benjamin Franklin Whittemore was a Republican U.S. congressman from South Carolina, serving from 1868-70, when he resigned, pending the investigation of his conduct in connection with certain appointments to the United States Military and Naval Academies. Whittemore studied theology and became a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church.
