Belle Berry was a burlesque performer and theater manager. She first appeared on the New York stage in 1873, married to Jake Berry, the manager of Berry's Opera House. "Belle Berry and One Hundred Dizzy Blondes" played in 1877 at the Columbia Opera House in New York. By 1879 the actress-turned-entrepreneur opened Belle Berry's Broadway Theatre, on Broadway and 4th in Williamsburgh, New York. There she headed "Belle Berry's Burlesque Opera Company" and her "Female Minstrels," who performed frequently at the theater, which operated until 1882.
