Rosa Bonheur (1822-1899)

Rosa Bonheur was a French painter and sculptor who was known especially for her ability to paint animals in a detailed and accurate way. She was very unconventional for her time: she wore trousers, smoked, and kept a lioness as a pet. This engraving depicts her as a young woman.
