Adelaide Borghi-Mamo (b.1830)
Adelaide Borghi-Mamo was an Italian contralto with a voice of great power. In December, 1846, she made her debut in her native city of Bologna. Borghi-Mamo performed in the leading cities of Europe to great acclaim. She was engaged at the Manoel Theatre in Malta from 1848 to 1850. Borghi-Mamo poses here for a photo at the Gurney studio in New York City, circa 1865, wearing a dramatic costume.
