Carolina Briol was an Italian-Argentinian soprano. In 1858 she starred at the Parma theater in "The Count of Leicester" by Antonio Baur. The soprano sang Marguerite in "Faust" in 1866 at the Teatro Colon in Argentina. In 1869-70 Briol made her U.S. debut with the Max Maretzek company at the Academy of Music, performing in "Guglielmo Tell" and "Un Ballo in Maschera." Briol appears here in a portrait from the famous Sarony studio in New York City, circa 1870, in costume.
