Alice Dunning Lingard (b.1847)

Alice Dunning Lingard was an actress and vocalist from London. She made her debut at the Grecian Theatre, in London. Dunning sang for the first time at the Crystal Palace, in Sydenham. The nineteen-year-old married William Horace Lingard, a music hall vocalist, in 1866. Lingard brought her to the U.S. in 1868. During that same year Dunning Lingard appeared as Widow White in the farce entitled "Mr. and Mrs. Peter White," at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. She appears here in costume, holding a book and staring straight at the camera, at the Sarony studio in New York City, circa 1870.
