Bijou Heron was an actress who was surrounded by famous theater people. The great Matilda Heron (1830-77), whose creation of a new Camille was a lasting success, was her mother. Matilda Heron's final performance was in 1876, at a benefit for Bijou, playing Medea. Bijou Heron married Henry Miller, a producer, writer, director, and actor, and their son was Gilbert Miller, a producer, writer, director, actor, and theater owner, who sometimes went by the name of Gilbert Heron. In this photograph of the young Bijou Heron, from the Howell studio in New York City, her jewelry and dress are tinted.
