Etelka Gerster (1855-1920)
Etelka Gerster was a Hungarian soprano. In 1876 she debuted at La Fenice, Venice, as Gilda in "Rigoletto." Gerster made her London debut in 1877 as Amina in "La Sonnambula" at Her Majesty's Theatre, where she also performed in "Lucia di Lammermoor," "Rigoletto," and "The Magic Flute." Her New York debut was in 1878, when Gerster sang Amina at the Academy of Music. The soprano taught singing in Berlin from 1896 to 1917.
