Mary Ellen Marcy, Mrs. George B. McClellan

Mary Ellen Marcy married George McClellan in 1860. They had one son and one daughter. Mrs. McClellan was the child of a superior army officer, Randolph B. Marcy, who later served as McClellan's chief of staff. Mary Ellen Marcy had previously declined McClellan's marriage proposal, but when her father refused to let her marry the man she preferred, she relented and married McClellan.
