Lillie Greenough, Mrs. Charles Moulton (1844-1928)
Lillie Moulton was a classically-trained singer. A popular socialite, she lived at the heart of the court of Napoleon III. Mrs. Moulton was acquainted with great figures in music, such as Wagner, Liszt, and Rossini. Born in Cambridge, MA, she studied music in London and then married Charles Moulton, an American banker who lived in Paris. After the fall of the Second Empire and the death of her husband, Mrs. Moulton married the Danish Minister to United States (and later to Stockholm, Rome, and Paris), C. de Hegermann-Lindencrone.
