Amy Ames

Amy Ames enjoyed a long career as an actress and singer. Characterized as "obstreperous," she debuted in 1869 at New York's Fifth Avenue Theatre as Nerissa in a bizarre musical creation, "Much Ado About a Merchant of Venice." The actress's great hit in the 1880s and 90s was a comedy inelegantly named "Natural Gas."
