Elizabeth Crocker, Mrs. D. P. Bowers (1820-1897)
Elizabeth Crocker Bowers debuted at the Park Theatre in New York, in 1846, as Amanthis in Elizabeth Inchbald's play, "The Child of Nature" (1788). She married actor David P. Bowers in 1847. Elizabeth Bowers became a great favorite at the Arch Street Theatre in Philadelphia. When her husband died in 1857 she became the manager of the Walnut Street Theatre. Mrs. Bowers made her London debut at age forty-one at Sadler's Wells as Julia in "The Hunchback."
