Jeffreys Lewis (1857-1926)

Born in London, actress Jeffreys Lewis made her 1873 U.S. debut at New York's Lyceum as Esmeralda in "Notre Dame." That same year Lewis joined Wallack's company, where she enjoyed great success. One of the few stage actors to make the transition to film, Lewis' movie credits include "A Regular Girl" (1919) and "Peacock Alley" (1922).
