Josephine Fiddes (1842-1923)

Josephine Fiddes, actress and writer, excelled at eccentric comic roles. She wrote an adaptation of Wilkie Collins, "A Woman in White", and played the title role. Fiddes married Irish comedian Dominick Murray and they moved to the U.S. in 1867. Miss Fiddes poses with a dreamy, distant gaze at the Howell studio in New York.
