Blanche Galton, Mrs. Thomas Whiffen (1845-1936)
Actress and contralto, the niece of Louisa and Susan Pyne, Galton made her London debut in 1865, married Whiffen in 1868, and made her U.S. debut in 1868 at New York's Wood's Museum. The versatile Galton performed in musicals, comedies, and serious drama on Broadway until 1927. Mrs. Whiffen was a pioneering crusader for Actors' Equity Association.
