Marietta Gazzaniga (1824-1884)

Marietta Gazzaniga, an Italian coloratura soprano, made her 1840 debut at Voghera as Jane Seymour in "Anna Bolena" and Romeo in "I Capuleti e i Montecchi." In 1857 the soprano made her U.S. debut in Philadelphia as Leonora in "Il Trovatore." This engraving depicts the vocalist in costume.
