Fanny Janauschek (1830–1904)

Fanny Janauschek (Francziska Magdalena Romance Janauschek), a Czech tragedienne and European star, made her 1867 U.S. debut playing Medea in German at the New York Academy of Music. By 1870 she was performing Mary Stuart in English.
