Charles-Francois Gounod, a French composer, remains one of the most respected opera composers of nineteenth-century France. Best known for the operas "Faust" and "Romeo and Juliet," Gounod wrote in most of the major genres of his day, sacred and secular. An unidentified artist created this image.
