Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809)

Franz Joseph Haydn was an Austrian composer and a great master of classical music. His symphonies, sonatas and string quartets established those basic genres and influenced Mozart, his close friend, as well as Beethoven, who studied under Haydn. The composer wrote more than one hundred symphonies, eighty string quartets, fifty piano sonatas, and two great oratorios as well as other forms. This painting depicts the young Haydn.
