Adelaide Cortesi
Adelaide Cortesi, an opera singer, made her debut at New York's Academy of Music in 1859 and, during that season, performed in "La Traviata," "Poliuto," "Norma," "Il Trovatore," and "Lucrezia Borgia." In this beautiful engraving, Cortesi poses in costume on an elaborate set with backdrop at the Gurney studio in New York.
