Edward A. McDowell
Edward A. or "E. A." McDowell combined two careers - actor and composer. From 1872 to 1875 he belonged to the company of Mrs. Conway's Theatre in Brooklyn. McDowell played his greatest acting role as Cassio in "Othello" at the Fifth Avenue Theatre in 1878. The talented artist composed a symphonic poem on Hamlet, which was performed in 1887 at New York's Chickering Hall. An elegant McDowell poses at the Pearsall studio in Brooklyn, circa 1875.
