Benson Lossing (1813-1891)

Benson John Lossing was a wood-engraver, author, and editor. In 1848 Lossing began a narrative sketchbook history - decorated with wood engravings - of the U.S. Revolution, which gave him a wide reputation. He became a prolific writer of books on U.S. history, with more than forty titles in history and biography.
