Lillian Russell (1861-1922)

Lillian Russell, an American singer and performer, began in light opera in 1879. When Tony Pastor introduced her at his casino in the early 1880s she became known as the "American Beauty." Russell eventually had her own company. The public enjoyed her flamboyant personality and her affair with Diamond Jim Brady.
