Edward Seguin (1809-1852)
Edward Seguin, an accomplished bass, was recruited by Lester Wallack to join his troupe at the National Theatre in New York. He married soprano Anne Childes. The couple became great favorites and soon dominated English opera in the U.S. They created the Seguin Opera Troupe, gave first U.S. performances in English of translated operas, and introduced three operas by U.S. composers.
