Carl Maria von Weber (1786-1826)
Carl Maria von Weber was a German pianist and composer who made his piano debut at age thirteen. He is considered the father of romantic German opera, because of the combination of strong nationalism and supernatural elements from German folklore in his work. Weber wrote ten operas, two of which, "Der Freischutz" (1821) and "Oberon" (1826) continue to be performed.
