Joseph H. Richards
Joseph H. Richards was a newspaper editor and publisher. While editor of the "Independent," Richards selected Abraham Lincoln of Illinois to speak at Cooper Union in 1860, the lecture that made Lincoln nationally known. Abolitionists founded "The Nation" in 1865 with Richards as the publisher.
