George Jones (1811-1891)
George Jones, a writer from Vermont, was a co-founder and editor of the "New York Times." He's known for breaking up the infamous "Tweed Ring" of New York Democrats. Jones and Horace Greeley both grew up in Poultney, Vermont, at one time worked together on the "New York Tribune," and remained lifelong friends.
