John Ruskin (1819-1900)

John Ruskin was an English writer, critic, and artist, who championed the Gothic Revival movement in architecture and was the dictator of public taste in art in Victorian England. Ruskin was the first professor of art in England and revolutionized art criticism. As he grew older he suffered periods of insanity, but continued to write his monumental books.
