John Dial (c.1852-1935)

John Dial was a member of the Lowry Gang, a robber band in North Carolina during the 1860s and 70s. He turned State’s evidence against the gang, but they accused him of two murders. Dial had a recognizable wart, "as large as a marble," under the left eye on the side of his nose. Apparently anxious about meeting his Maker, Dial was baptized at 83, in 1935.
