Galusha Aaron Grow (1823-1907)
Galusha Aaron Grow was elected as the Democrat Representative to the Thirty-second, Thirty-third, and Thirty-fourth Congresses and as a Republican to the Thirty-fifth, Thirty-sixth, and Thirty-seventh Congresses (1851-63). He was speaker of the House of Representatives in 1863 (Thirty-seventh Congress). Grow was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-third Congress and reelected to the four succeeding Congresses, serving from 1894 to 1903. Grow was a pioneer in homestead legislation.
