Clara Wieck Schumann (1819-1896)

Clara Wieck Schumann, one of the most remarkable pianists of her day, made her debut in 1836, at age seventeen. Wieck Schumann's playing was known for its intellectual polish and deep sensitivity. Also a composer, she created piano pieces and songs. Schumann's great contributions have been obscured by those of her husband, Robert.
