Alwina Valleria (1848-1925)
Soprano Alwina Valleria (born Schoening in Baltimore) made her debut in St. Petersburg in "Linda di Chamounix" in 1871. In the following years she sang in Germany, Milan, and London, then debuted in New York in 1879 as Gounod's Marguerite. Valleria's Metropolitan Opera debut was as Leonora in "Il Trovatore" in 1883.
