Aujac was a French singer who specialized in opera-bouffe. In the 1860s the vocalist appeared frequently in New York with Adolph Birgfeld's French company, performing in the great comic operas - La Perichole (as Piquillo), La Grande Duchesse (as Fritz), Orphee aux Enfers, La Belle Helene, and Barbe Bleue. Here Aujac poses in costume, holding his high hat in his left hand and a musical instrument in his right.
