C. B. Bishop (1823?-1889)

C. B. Bishop was an American actor. His name appears on the records of the Holliday Street Theatre in Baltimore as early as the 1861-62 season. Bishop appears to have been a favorite on the North Carolina circuit. He performed in Goldsboro, North Carolina, in 1882 and 1883. In Raleigh Bishop played in "Strictly Business," earning $350 in one night. He specialized in a comedy entitled "The Widow Bedott," which kept the audience laughing in January, 1883, to the tune of $400. In 1885 Bishop again played in "The Widow Bedott," in Durham, North Carolina, for a large and enthusiastic audience.
