Dan Bryant (1833-1875)

Dan Bryant (Daniel Webster O'Brien) made his debut as a dancer in 1845, in New York. His minstrel character first appeared in New York City in 1845, dancing to patter songs like "Shoo Fly." In 1863 Bryant also became famous for an Irish character named Handy Andy. Bryant poses in costume as Handy Andy at the Howell studio in New York.
