John Nickinson (1808-1864)

Born in England, actor John Nickinson became a drummer boy at age fifteen, then followed his company to Canada where he became an amateur actor. Arriving in New York, Nickinson had great professional success onstage. Actress Virginia Nickinson (Marlowe) was his daughter.
