Daniel Huntington (1816-1906)

Huntington was one of the most successful and well-documented of nineteenth-century U.S. painters. His paintings, characterized by religiosity, reveal a derivative style and mediocre technical training, none of which harmed his popularity with the American public. U.S. presidents and first ladies selected Huntington to execute oil portraits.
