Edwin White (1817-1877)
Born in the U.S., Edwin White was an historical painter who studied in Paris, Rome, and Florence. Among his important works are "Pocahontas Informing Smith of the Conspiracy of the Indians" and "Washington Resigning his Commission." In an unusual pose, the artist holds his sketchpad in his lap.
