Prince Albert (1819-1861)
Albert, Prince of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, became the prince consort of Queen Victoria of England. They were married in 1840. The prince became Victoria's chief advisor and private secretary. Despite Albert's unpopularity with the English, who disliked his moral severity, the prince's exceptional qualities contributed to a very happy marriage, improved diplomacy, and gave the country The Great Exhibition of 1851 at the Crystal Palace.
