William Thomas Blanford (1832-1905)
William Thomas Blanford was a British zoologist and geologist. After studying at the Royal School of Mines, he began work on the Geological Survey of India in 1854. Blanford made important discoveries in the Talchir strata. Sent to Mgdala and Abyssinia he studied their natural history. Blanford's writing included "Observations on the Geology and Zoology of Abyssinia" (1870) and "Manual of the Geology of India" (1879).
