Sir David Brewster (1781-1868)
David Brewster was a scientist, inventor, writer and innovator from Scotland, best known for the invention of the kaleidoscope, which he intended as a scientific tool. In 1849 he invented the stereoscope, a popular Victorian device for viewing photos. Brewster also influenced the development of photography, favoring the calotype over the daguerreotype.
